Where we Work What we Do |
Baraki Sisters Farm
Baraki Sisters Farm
Baraki Sisters Farm
by John Frangenberg
The work I am doing at the Baraki Sisters Farm in North Mara Region of Musoma Diocese is much the same as the work I was doing in America for thirty years. The Sisters have several tractors and other vehicles and machinery which is frequently in need of repair. The rural African farm workers in this area do not have a mechanical background such as many people in America have, so they need extensive training to be able to maintain equipment economically. Many of our farm workers are especially deficient in knowledge of electricity, so I am trying to teach them some basic fundamentals. One difficulty is the lack of technical books and literature written in the Swahili language. Not many of the local people are able to understand English, so communication is not easy. |
